A global energy brand shares its vision of change in the digital era.

Since its founding in 1962, Enel has been an indispensable part of people’s everyday lives. But the Italian-based energy company has grown into a truly global business, serving hundreds of millions of people each day and helping shape the future of energy. To reflect the growth and transformation of the business, in 2015 Enel was looking to communicate its innovations and global identity in a new era.

As part of these rebranding efforts, Enel partnered with Huge to launch a new Enel.com. We worked with global branding agency Wolff Olins, who helped create a reimagined visual identity and logo to inform the digital experience.

Energy in a new era.

Today’s Enel is directly engaged in some the world’s most urgent challenges: providing energy access to more people, climate change and sustainability efforts, and leading the digitization of the power grid. To visualize its presence, Enel created Open Power, a platform to share the company’s values and role as a leading energy business. In creating a new digital experience for Enel, Huge set out to bring the Open Power philosophy to life throughout the redesign.

Open, transparent, understandable.

The new Enel.com gives users an informative and inspirational experience, sharing its work in communities around the world. The site aims to educate on the groundbreaking technologies that Enel has engineered through these examples, and build a stronger brand connection with users all over the globe.

We designed the experience to meet user and business needs, communicating Enel’s ambition at a global scale and making it easy for users to find information. Rich visual content features the work that Enel is engaged with around the world — such as efforts in solar and wind power in South Africa. Users can explore topics that illuminate Enel’s reach, how they tackle global challenges on a local scale, and how they use energy in new and innovative ways, combined with more specific information required by various users of the site. All of these elements come together for a colorful experience that convey the spirit of Open Power to the rest of the world.

The new Enel.com launched on January 26, 2016, and marks just the beginning of a partnership between Huge and Enel.
