Huge's Brooklyn Office Hosts Airbnb for a Content Strategy and Inclusivity Meetup.
We're excited to host Holly Hetherington of Airbnb for a talk on her experience of promoting belonging through content strategy, followed by a Q&A session - come prepared with questions!
Make room for belonging: Using content strategy to create inclusive, thoughtful experiences.
At a place like Airbnb, which promotes belonging as core to its mission, it’s important to account for the many different kinds of people who use their platform. In recent work here and at Facebook, Holly has had the opportunity to work on some tricky experiences, like anti-discrimination and suicide prevention. She'll talk about her content strategy approach, how she advocated for inclusive, thoughtful experiences, and what she learned along the way. You'll get insight on:
- Addressing tough situations, even if you haven't gone through something similar
- Developing UI that feels relevant, empathetic and supportive
- Making uncomfortable or painful experiences just a little bit better
About the speaker: Holly Hetherington is a content strategist at Airbnb, where she’s worked on non-discrimination experiences, along with products for hosts. Before Airbnb, Holly worked on Facebook’s compassion team, which covered everything from suicide and eating disorder prevention to helping people report non-consensual pornography. Holly has given talks at the American Association of Suicidology, Web Visions design conference, and content strategy meetups. She's been doing content strategy since before it was officially a thing, and comes from Seattle, WA.
